Salas to lead Chilean roster to Europe for friendlies

Marcelo Salas was recalled Friday to Chile's national squad after an almost three-year absence, part of a 22-man roster selected by Argentine manager Marcelo Bielsa for two matches in September in Austria.
Chile will play Switzerland on Sept. 7 and Austria four days later in Vienna.
Bielsa, hired last month as manager of the Chilean squad that will seek a berth in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, also called three players from the youth side that finished third at the Under-20 World Cup in Canada in July: defenders Arturo Vidal and Gary Medel, midfielder Mauricio Isla and striker Alexis Sanchez.
Salas was included in a preliminary roster two weeks ago, having only recently returned to Universidad after leaving the team in December in a dispute with the club's court-appointed bankruptcy official. He trained with the Chicago Fire in June.
