Justin Wilson fastest in first qualifying session for Champ Car Dutch GP

Justin Wilson was fastest on a wet track Friday in the first qualifying session for the inaugural Champ Car Dutch Grand Prix.
Wilson, fourth in the series standings, had a fastest lap of 1 minute, 30.656 seconds around the 4.55-kilometer (2.83-mile) track at Assen, at an average speed of 180.859 kmh (112.381 mph).
Simon Pagenaud of France was second, 0.89 seconds behind Wilson, and another French driver Tristan Gommendy was third, just over a second behind Wilson.
Series leader Sebastien Bourdais of France, coming off victory in last weekend's Belgium Grand Prix, could only manage sixth place.
Bourdais is closing in on his fourth straight Champ Car title in his last season before moving to Formula One. He leads the series by 53 points from rookie Robert Doornbos of the Netherlands _ 283 to 230.
In front of his home crowd, Doornbos could only manage seventh in qualifying Friday.
Will Power of Australia, third in the standings, was eighth.
Bourdais is seeking to complete a career sweep of Champ Car races in Europe. He has won all three races he has competed in on this side of the Atlantic _ last week's race in Belgium as well as races in England and Germany in 2003.
