Croatia names squad for Euro 2008 qualifiers with Estonia, Andorra

Midfielders Niko Kranjcar and Jerko Leko will be fit for Croatia's upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Estonia and Andorra, but Ivan Rakitic is still waiting for permission to play for the national team.
Kranjcar and Leko missed a friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina earlier this month because of injury but will be back for the Sept. 8 match against Estonia at home and the match in Andorra four days later, coach Slaven Bilic said Thursday.
The Swiss-born Rakitic was included in the 23-man squad for the games, although he has not received approval from FIFA to play for Croatia. He has previously played for Switzerland's youth teams.
The general secretary of the Croatian Soccer Federation, Zorislav Srebric, said they would try to speed up his registration.
"We're optimists," Bilic said. "We're definitely favorites on paper _ but victories are only achieved with great efforts."
Croatia and Israel lead the Group E with 17 points _ with Israel having played one more game. Russia is third and England fourth.
