Ohuruogu wins gold for Britain at world championships

Christine Ohuruogu of Britain won the 400 meters gold medal at the world championships Wednesday in her first major event since returning from a doping ban.
Ohuruogu won in a personal best 49.61 from British teammate Nicola Sanders in 49.65 and Noylene Williams of Jamaica in 49.66.
Defending champion Tonique Williams-Darling is out injured.
Sanya Richards would have been the overwhelming favorite to win the 400, which she has dominated for the past two years, but she failed to qualify for the U.S. team.
Ohuruogu, 23, was named to Britain's team for the world championships in July, two days after completing a one-year ban for missing three out-of-competition doping tests.
UK Athletics said the violation was "due only to forgetfulness."
