World Cup favorites New Zealand head to France

Rugby World Cup favorites New Zealand headed to France on Wednesday, determined to break a 20-year winning drought in the sport's showcase event.
The All Blacks left Auckland bound initially for Corsica, where they will spend a few days acclimatizing before moving on to their first World Cup base in Marseilles. They will play their first match against Italy on Sept. 8.
New Zealand has been drawn in pool C of the world tournament with Scotland, Italy, Portugal and Romania.
Their determination is to end a losing streak in World Cups stretching back to the inaugural tournament in New Zealand in 1987 in which they beat France in the final. New Zealand has started favorite in all subsequent World Cups _ in 1991, 1995, 1999 and 2003 _ but has reached the final only once more, in South Africa 12 years ago.
