U.S. dollar mostly higher, gold down in European trading

The U.S. dollar was mostly higher against other major currencies in European trading Tuesday. Gold fell.
The euro was quoted at US$1.3643, down from $1.3653 late Monday in New York.

The British pound was quoted at US$2.0088, down from US$2.0129.
Gold traded in London at US$663.20 bid per troy ounce, down from US$666.80 late Monday on the New York Mercantile Exchange. London markets were closed for a holiday Monday.
In Zurich, gold traded at US$662.50 bid per troy ounce, down from US$664.20.
Gold closed at US$667.05 an ounce in Hong Kong, down 30 U.S. cents an ounce from Monday's close of US$667.35.
Silver traded in London at US$11.72, down from US$11.75 in New York on Monday.
