Kipruto leads Kenyan medal sweep in steeple

Brimin Kipruto led a Kenyan sweep of the medals in the 3,000 steeplechase Tuesday, continuing a national dominance going back nine track and field world championships.
Kipruto won in 8 minutes, 13.82 seconds, with Ezekiel Kemboi taking silver for the second straight world championship and Richard Kipkemboi Mateelong finishing third.
Mustafa Mohamed of Sweden was fourth.
Two-time champion Saif Saaeed Shaheen of Qatar did not compete because an Achilles tendon injury.
Kenyan, or in Shaheen's case Kenyan-born, runners have won the last nine world championships.
