Contreras ends 9-start skid as White Sox hit 4 homers to beat Devil Rays 5-4

Jose Contreras got his first win as a starter in two months and rookie Josh Fields put the White Sox ahead with Chicago's fourth home run of the seventh inning in a 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Monday.
Contreras (7-16), who leads the major leagues in losses, had dropped nine straight starts since beating Florida on June 18. His lone victory since then was in relief.
Contreras allowed four runs and eight hits in seven innings, improving to 5-0 in his career against Tampa Bay. Bobby Jenks pitched the ninth for his 36th save in 41 chances.
Tampa Bay starter Edwin Jackson took a 4-0 lead into the seventh before A.J. Pierzynski, Jermaine Dye and Juan Uribe homered to make it 4-3. It was first time three White Sox homered consecutively since Aug. 21, 2005.
