Eriksson keeps spending as Bulgaria striker Bojinov becomes City's eighth offseason signing

Valeri Bojinov became Manchester City's fourth signing in two days as new manager Sven Goran Eriksson continued his offseason spending Friday.
The Bulgaria striker joined from Fiorentina for a reported fee of 5.75 million pounds (US$ 11.7 million; euro8.5 million), subject to a work permit.
The 21-year-old Bojinov signed a four-year-contract.
He debuted for Bulgaria in the 2004 European Championships and has scored two goals in 11 internationals.
Bojinov's transfer takes City's offseason spending to about 37 million pounds (US$62.9 million; euro46 million), with eight new players signed since Eriksson took over as manager last month. The club has money to spend after former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra bought it in July.
"Sven has proved to be quite a draw when it comes to signing players," Thaksin said. "His name and reputation have proved to be valuable."
More signings are possible.
"There is more money to spend if he feels he needs it, but we will not be held to ransom by other clubs," Thaksin said.
