Lymberopoulos scores late goal as Greece beats Moldova 2-1 in European qualifier

Substitute Nikos Lymberopoulos scored the winning goal in injury time Wednesday to help defending champion Greece beat Moldova 2-1 in a European Championship qualifier.
Angelos Charisteas scored for Greece in the 30th minute, but Viorel Funza leveled for the visitors in the 79th. Lymberopoulos scored in the 94th.
"It was an important victory for us because Norway and Boznia-Herzegovina also won," Greece coach Otto Rehhagel said.
The result moved Greece closer to a place at the 2008 European Championship in Austria and Switzerland.
Greece has 18 points from seven games and has extended its lead over rival Turkey, Norway and Bosnia-Herzegovina to five points. Turkey has played six games.
Both teams got off to a sluggish start with no action at either end of the pitch. Greece missed a chance through Theofanis Gekas, before Charisteas headed in a cross by Hristos Patsatzoglou to make it 1-0.
Moldova rarely posed a threat but leveled with its first serious attack. Frunza collected the ball on the left side of the box and found the net with a low-angled drive.
But the visitors' joy was short-lived as Lymberopoulos slid a loose ball in the box into the net with just seconds remaining.
