Kasey Keller to leave Moenchengladbach

United States goalkeeper Kasey Keller will leave Borussia Moenchengladbach at the end of the season.
The Bundesliga club said Wednesday it didn't expect the 37-year-old goalkeeper _ after a long career in Europe _ to want to stay with the relegated club next season in Germany's second division.
"That Keller offered to stay with the Borussia is a surprise," Moenchengladbach manager Christian Ziege said. "We had to assume that he wasn't available if we were demoted."
Ziege said Moenchengladbach, however, will stick by plans for a generation change and play 25-year-old Christofer Heimeroth next season.
Keller joined the German club in 2005 and often is ranked among the Bundesliga's top goalkeepers. His previous European stops include playing for Tottenham in the Premier League and for Rayo Vallecano in Spain.
Moenchengladbach's disastrous campaign came after it signed several big names in recent years and expected to contend for a UEFA Cup berth this season.
Wesley Sonck will be among seven players leaving. The club, however, hopes to keep 21-year-old Germany defender Marcell Jansen, who is being courted by several other teams.
