London 2012 wants to build venues that can be dismantled after the games

The organizers of the 2012 London Olympics want to build some venues that can be dismantled after the games.
"We will only build in permanent mode what those communities can use after the games," London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe said Thursday in a speech at a conference in East London.
"If we cannot justify a long-term sporting usage, we will use temporary installations which can either be converted into other uses post-games, or relocated in component parts or in other ways to provide sporting legacy and opportunities elsewhere in the country."
Organizers are looking for designers to plan venues for basketball and fencing that can eventually be dismantled.
"We are looking for solutions that combine design flair and innovation with practicality and cost efficiency," Olympic delivery authority director of design Alison Nimmo said. "At the same time we are investigating how these facilities could be best utilized after the games."
