Albert outpoints Campas

Eromosole Albert unanimously outpointed former IBF junior-middleweight champion Ramon "Yory Boy" Campas in a 10-round fight on Wednesday.
Albert, a Nigerian now living in Miami, received winning scores of 99-91 from two judges and the third called it 93-93. There were no knockdowns in the middleweight bout at Mahi Temple Auditorium.
Campas, of Mexico, and Albert began the bout at a quick pace, exchanging combinations to the head in the first round. Albert (20-1) was effective fighting off the ropes, landing straight rights to the head, while Campas (88-10) connected with left hooks to the head.
Late in the fifth round, Campas sustained a cut on his right eyelid caused by an accidental clash of heads, according to referee Tommy Kimmons.
In the sixth, Albert for the first time had Campas retreating when he caught him with a right to the head in the final seconds.
Albert maintained the busy pace in the seventh and eighth rounds, frustrating Campas with rights to the head. While Campas landed an occasional left hook to the head, Albert often pinned Campas to the ropes.
The 36-year-old Campas won the IBF title by stopping Raul Marquez in eight rounds in 1997. He had two successful title defenses before losing the belt to Fernando Vargas the following year.
Campas weighed 155 pounds (70 kilograms) for Wednesday's bout, a pound (half a kilo) more than Albert.
