Far Eastern Plaza presents 'White Asparagus' delicacies

Marco Polo Restaurant and Shanghai Pavilion - respectively located on the 38th and 39th floors of Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei - will serve "White Asparagus Delicacies" from May 1 to 11 in both a la carte and set menus.
The delicate white asparagus requires careful cultivation and is available only during spring season. It has a very particular, subtle flavor and is praised as a "superstar" among ingredients in high cuisine.
Marco Polo Restaurant's Italian chef, Fabian Altabert, has prepared a selection of scrumptious a la carte dishes, including cream of white asparagus scented with black truffle oil (NT$590), red snapper fillet with white asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes cooked in papillotte (NT$890), roasted veal cutlet, and sauteed white asparagus with butter and aged balsamic vinegar reduction (NT$1,180).
The first Marco Polo Restaurant set menu is priced at NT$2,390 per person and includes:
* white asparagus with san daniele ham, rocket leaves and parmesan shavings
* porcini-flavored tagliatelle sauteed with white asparagus and pancetta ham
* roasted veal cutlet with sauteed white asparagus with butter and aged balsamic vinegar reduction
* coffee and mascarpone trifle
The second set menu is priced at NT$2,000 per person and includes:
* white asparagus with a Venetian sauce
* pesto-flavored risotto with shrimps and white asparagus tips
* red snapper fillet with white asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes cooked in papillotte
* meringue with strawberries and lemon cream
Shanghai Pavilion's head chef I Chi-shui has also prepared mouth-watering white asparagus a la carte dishes, such as seafood soup with white asparagus (NT$600), and baked white asparagus with cream sauce (NT$800), while the meticulously designed set menu is priced at NT$2,000 per person and includes:
* cold white asparagus with king prawns and vinegar sauce
* white asparagus with crab meat soup
* steamed bun with meat and white asparagus
* sauteed white and green asparagus with sliced chicken
* braised white asparagus with fresh clam
* Shanghai specialty sweet
* seasonal fresh fruit platter
