Rentokil says 1st-quarter revenue rose 24 percent, in line with company forecasts

Rentokil Initial PLC, the world's biggest pest control company, said Wednesday that first-quarter revenue rose 24 percent, in line with the company's forecasts.
Revenue in the three months through March 31 rose to 521.5 million pounds (US$1 billion; euro765.3 million), compared with 421 million pounds in the same period a year earlier, the company said in a statement.
"We continue to expect that profits for the year before one-off items will be in line with 2006," the company said. It did not give net profit figures for the quarter.
Rentokil said in March it is selling its electronic security division to United Technologies Corp. for US$1.16 billion (euro870 million). The deal still requires regulatory approval.
Rentokil shares were little changed at 173.25 pence (US$3.46; euro2.54).
