Figure skating Grand Prix to start season in U.S.

Next season's figure skating Grand Prix series will start in the United States.
The six-meet season begins with Skate America Oct. 25-28 in Reading, Pennsylvania, the sport's world governing body said Tuesday.
The other meets are scheduled for Quebec, Nov. 1-4; Beijing, Nov. 8-11; Paris, Nov. 15-18; Moscow, Nov. 22-25; and Sendai, Japan, Nov. 29-Dec. 2.
The prize money for each event is US$180,000 (euro132,300), the International Skating Union said on its Web site.
The six skaters with the most points from the series qualify for the Dec. 13-16 Grand Prix final. A site will be announced for the US$272,000 (euro199,925) event after the ISU council meeting in June.
The 2008 world championships, which are separate from the Grand Prix, will be held March 16-23 in Goteborg, Sweden.
