Indonesia shares end up on gains in mining stocks

Indonesia shares rose slightly Tuesday, led by gains in nickel miner Antam and tin miner Timah following reports of strong first-quarter earnings.
The Jakarta Stock Exchange Composite index closed 2.011 points or 0.1 percent up at 2,001.178 in moderate trading, where gainers upset losers 114 to 69 and 60 stocks were unchanged.
Traders believed the market remained in a consolidation mode after a recent rally and after news of better-than-expected inflation in April improved sentiment on local bourse.
Antam gained 2.9 percent to close at 16,050 rupiah while Timah climbed 8 percent to 12,900 rupiah.
Meanwhile, bellwether Telkom slid 1.4 percent to 10,350 rupiah on reports that its first-quarter profit fell 12 percent from one year ago.
The rupiah ended steady as lackluster trading in Asian major financial centers choked trading flows and held the U.S. dollar rate at 9,080 rupiah.
