Autuori leaves Brazil's Cruzeiro

Former Peru coach Paulo Autuori resigned from Brazil's Cruzeiro in the middle of the state finals after a disappointing loss to rival Atletico Mineiro over the weekend.
Cruzeiro fell 4-0 to Atletico in the first leg of the Minas Gerais state championship finals on Sunday, and Autuori announced his resignation after the match.
"I have dignity, and I can't accept how we handed this match to Atletico Mineiro," the Brazilian coach said. "It's my responsibility, I have never blamed the players and I'll never do it."
Cruzeiro, which also has been eliminated from the Brazilian Cup, will need to win the second leg by at least four goals.
Autuori had been with Cruzeiro since January, leading the club to 11 victories, five draws and four losses. It was his second stint as Cruzeiro coach. He commanded the club in 1997, when it won the Copa Libertadores, and in 1999.
After coaching Peru for nearly two years, Autuori helped Brazil's Sao Paulo win the Copa Libertadores and FIFA's world club championship in 2005.
He will be temporarily replaced by interim coach Emerson Avila.
