San Lorenzo takes 4-point lead in Argentine first-division race

Front-runner San Lorenzo extended its lead to four points by edging Nueva Chicago 3-2 in the 12th round of the Argentine Clausura championship on Sunday.
Second-placed Boca Juniors slipped when it conceded a 2-2 draw with Racing Club in a dramatic finish as Racing drew the equalizer off a last-minute penalty kick.
With seven rounds remaining, San Lorenzo has 31 points, four ahead of Boca. Estudiantes, which beat Godoy Cruz 1-0 on Friday, was in third place with 25 points, followed two points back by River Plate, which beat Rosario Central 2-0 on Saturday.
San Lorenzo's trio of goals came in the first half as Adrian Gonzalez scored in the 28th and 42nd minutes and Ezequiel Lavezzi scored off a 44th-minute free kick.
Early in the second period, Nueva Chicago roared back as Gonzalo Higuain converted a penalty kick that deflected off an upright before striking goalkeeper Sebastian Orion and bouncing into the net. Lucio Filomeno booted in Nueva Chicago's final goal in the 70th.
Playing at home, Boca drew 2-2 in a tight match. Gonzalo Bergessio headed in the first for Racing at the 25th. In the second half, Boca's Juan Roman Riquelme leveled with a 55th-minute score and Martin Palermo converted a right-footer four minutes later.
A Boca foul drew the last-minute penalty kick, converted by Racing's Facundo Sava.
In other matches, Colon drew Arsenal 1-1, and Argentinos Juniors beat Belgrano of Cordoba 2-0.
Independiente edged Velez Sarsfield 1-0 and Gimnasia of Jujuy beat Quilmes 2-1. Lanus edged Gimnasia of La Plata 1-0, while Banfield blasted past Newell's Old Boys 4-0.
