Mathieu dominates Montanes to win Casablanca final

Paul-Henri Mathieu of France beat Albert Montanes of Spain 6-1, 6-1 Sunday to win the Grand Prix Hassan II and end a five-year wait for his third career title.
The eighth-seeded Mathieu broke Montanes five times and outclassed his opponent on serve, winning 94 percent of first serve points, compared to 59 percent for Montanes. The Spaniard won only 21 percent on his second serve.
"It's great to get off to a good start in the clay court season and I hope that I'll keep on playing well in the upcoming weeks," Mathieu said.
Mathieu's previous titles came in 2002 at Lyon and Moscow, and his previous final was in 2003, at Palermo.
Montanes has lost all four career finals, with defeats at Bucharest in 2001, Valencia in 2004 and Acapulco in 2005.
Mathieu raced into a 5-0 lead by breaking Montanes in the second and fourth games of the opening set, and he also broke the Spaniard in the first and third games to take a 4-0 lead in the second set.
"It was a very difficult match from the beginning," Montanes said. "Paul-Henri played well and I didn't really manage to find my way into the match."
