Nicola Amoruso scored twice as Reggina won 3-2 at last-place Ascoli to move out of the relegation zone.
Ascoli captain Michele Fini scored on a free kick to put the hosts ahead in the 15th minute before Amoruso scored in the 25th and 32nd.
Pasquale Foggia put Reggina up 3-1 in the 52nd before Massimo Bonanni pulled one back for Ascoli in the 82nd.
Reggina striker Rolando Bianchi had a penalty blocked by Ascoli goalkeeper Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos in the 84th.
