Eddie Johnson spoiled Toronto FC's home opener with an 81st-minute goal that gave the Kansas City Wizards a 1-0 victory on Saturday over the Major League Soccer expansion club that is winless in its four games.
Also, the Columbus Crew beat D.C. United by the same score and the Los Angeles Galaxy thrashed Chivas USA 3-1.
Johnson took the ball on the right side of the penalty box, cut inside and fired a low shot that seemed to hit a Toronto defender before passing the outstretched hand of goalkeeper Greg Sutton.
Ezra Hendrickson scored in the 28th minute for Columbus.
His initial shot got past United goalkeeper Troy Perkins but was kicked off the goal line by defender Devon McTavish. The ball caromed off the head of United midfielder Joshua Gros and back into Hendrickson's path for an easy score.
Landon Donovan scored one goal and set up two others at Carson California to help Los Angeles down Chivas USA.
Donovan scored his first goal of the season in the 8th minute after Kyle Martino's crossing pass from the left flank drew goalkeeper Brad Guzan away from the net. The ball deflected off Chivas USA defender Claudio Suarez to Donovan, who converted into an empty net from four yards.
