Areva Challenge beats United Internet Team Germany before racing delayed

French syndicate Areva Challenge beat United Internet Team Germany in America's Cup challengers series racing on Friday.
The French won the 10th-flight match race by 1 minute, 9 seconds to move up the Louis Vuitton Cup standings on a day when sailing was delayed due to erratic wind.
Only racing on the northern "Romeo" course got under way with +39 Challenge picking up its first points of the round-robin stage after China Team did not start its race as it continued to repair a broken keel box.
Undefeated BMW Oracle Racing of the United States was set to sail against Desafio Espanol before an 11th flight matchup against Emirates Team New Zealand, the top-ranked challenger based on Louis Vuitton Cup fleet racing rankings.
The Americans lead the standings with 19 points, three more than the Kiwis. Italian syndicate Luna Rossa and Desafio Espanol have 15.
The Louis Vuitton Cup will decide which of the 11 challengers will sail against America's Cup champion Alinghi in the final from June 23-July 4.
