Atlanta edge Boston with NHL playoff spot looming

Keith Tkachuk scored the winner, Kari Lehtonen saved 25 shots, and the Atlanta Thrashers moved a step closer to clinching their first NHL playoff berth with a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
Atlanta squandered a 2-0 lead, but Tkachuk bailed them out when he poked a rebound past Boston goalie Joey MacDonald with 18.6 seconds remaining in the third.
Ilya Kovalchuk and Greg de Vries also scored for the Thrashers, who swept the four-game series with Boston and tied their franchise record with their 41st win.
Marco Sturm and Petr Kalus scored for Boston.
Avalanche 2, Wild 1
At Denver, Colorado kept its thin playoff hopes alive behind goalie Peter Budaj's record-tying 10th win in March.
The Avalanche also tied a team record with 11 wins in a month, first accomplished in January 2004.
Budaj went 10-2-0 in March, tying the franchise record for wins in any month set by Daniel Bouchard with the Quebec Nordiques in February 1981 and breaking the March mark of nine set by Jocelyn Thibault in 1995 and tied by Patrick Roy in 2000 and '03.
Marian Gaborik's wrist shot from the left circle on the power play gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead just 81 seconds into the game and Colorado scored both of its goals on power plays in the second period through John-Michael Liles and rookie Paul Stastny.
