Soprano Dawn Upshaw cancels New York appearance with St. Louis Symphony Orchestra

Soprano Dawn Upshaw has canceled her New York City appearance as soloist with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra later this month because of fatigue following chemotherapy.
Upshaw, who was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer last summer, completed treatment in December. She was advised to withdraw from the Carnegie Hall performance "to allow for the return to full stamina and health" after catching a cold while on a recent tour, the concert venue announced Friday.
Mezzo-soprano Susan Graham will replace Upshaw, 46, for the March 31 concert at the Stern Auditorium. Instead of a planned performance of Britten's "Les Illuminations," Graham will sing Ravel's "Scheherazade."
Upshaw, a three-time Grammy winner, returned to the stage last month for two concerts on the West Coast.
