Kildow ends World Cup season injured

American skier Lindsey Kildow has decided to sit out the rest of the season following an injury to her right knee.
"They made the decision yesterday," U.S. Ski Team spokesman Marc Habermann told The Associated Press on Thursday. "It's mainly a precautious move. It just doesn't make sense to come back for a few races and risk anything at her age. She's just going to focus on next season."
The 22-year-old Kildow injured herself when she fell in slalom training a week ago at the world championships in Are, Sweden. She partially tore her ACL.
Kildow had hoped to return for World Cup races in Tarvisio, Italy, next week, but after consulting with the team's physiotherapist, she decided to end her season early.
Habermann said Kildow was flying home either Thursday or Friday from the U.S. team's in-season base in Kirchberg, Austria.
Kildow won silver medals in super-G and downhill at the worlds before her injury. She also won three World Cup races this season, is in second place in the super-G standings, third in the downhill rankings and fifth overall.
