Arsonists attack Citibank branch in Greece

Suspected anarchists detonated a makeshift bomb outside a Citibank branch north of Athens early Monday, causing minor damage but no injuries, police said.
Several small cooking gas canisters exploded outside the bank in the Melissia area, north of the capital.
Anarchist groups have stepped up arson attacks in the capital to demand the release of three protesters arrested during violent demonstrations in Athens last May against the U.S.-led occupation of Iraq. Two of the demonstrators, in pretrial custody at a prison near Athens, are on hunger strike.
Also Monday, two offices of the ruling conservative New Democracy party were damaged in similar gas canister attacks in the northern city of Thessaloniki. Both offices were empty when the attacks occurred in downtown parts of the city.
