Sporting draws 1-1 with Boavista, drops to third in Portuguese league

Sporting dropped into third place in the Portuguese league Sunday after being held to a 1-1 draw by Boavista.
Liedson Muniz gave Sporting the lead with a header, but Ricardo Sousa equalized to leave Sporting with 34 points.
On Saturday, Benfica beat Belenenses 2-1 and is now in second place, five points behind FC Porto, which lost to Leiria 1-0.
Both Simao Sabrosa and Luisao scored from passes from Rui Costa. Belenenses' Silas Fernandes scored in the 86th.
Porto lost for the only the second time in 16 matches. Damien Tixier scored the game's only goal in the 70th.
