Chelsea beats Forest 3-0 to reach last 16 of FA Cup

Chelsea scored three first-half goals Sunday to beat League One team Nottingham Forest 3-0 and move into the last 16 of the FA Cup.
Strikers Andriy Shevchenko and Didier Drogba scored within the first 18 minutes at Stamford Bridge and midfielder John Obi Mikel added a third in the 45th.
The Blues remain on course for a possible domestic cup double, playing the Feb. 25 League Cup final against either Arsenal or Tottenham, which are tied at 2-2 after the first leg of their semifinal match.
Manchester City rallied to beat League Championship team Southampton 3-1 with American midfielder DaMarcus Beasley scoring the third goal.
Later Sunday, Arsenal hosted Bolton.
Chelsea went ahead in the ninth minute when Forest failed to clear a long throw. The ball dropped to Shevchenko, whose 10-meter (yard) shot hit defender John Curtis and deflected past wrong-footed goalkeeper Paul Smith.
In the 18th, Drogba curled a free kick from six meters outside the area into the top corner of the net.
The third goal came when Lampard's corner hit a Forest defender and Smith before Mikel stabbed the ball in at the far post.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho complained about the state of the Stamford Bridge playing surface.
"I think we have a new enemy _ the pitch," he said. "We changed the pitch two weeks ago and it is not good enough. It was very difficult to play good and fast football, but we played very well."
Mourinho's future at the two-time defending champions has been in doubt after speculation he's been refused money to spend in the January transfer window. But he says he is not about to leave.
"I have a contract that runs until 2010 and that's a very important thing," he said. "I am manager today and until the end of the season, and I believe I will be manager until 2010."
At the City of Manchester Stadium, Kenwyne Jones gave Southampton a 23th-minute lead only for Darius Vassell to level three minutes later. Joey Barton put the hosts 2-1 up in the 45th and Beasley added a third in the 70th.
In a meeting of two neighbors from the League Championship, West Bromwich Albion won 3-0 at Wolves to also reach the last 16.
On Saturday, substitute Wayne Rooney scored twice as record 11-time FA Cup winner Manchester United beat Portsmouth 2-1.
