Serie A club Parma sold to consortium

Serie A club Parma was sold to a consortium led by Italian businessman Tommaso Ghirardi on Thursday.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, by former owner Parmalat SpA.
Parma, a two-time UEFA Cup winner, has been run by a temporary administration since dairy giant Parmalat went bankrupt in December 2003.
Since then, there have been several failed bids, including one last year by former Real Madrid chairman Lorenzo Sanz.
Ghirardi, whose business interests include engineering and steelworks, already owns fourth-division soccer team Carpenedolo.
He acquired Parma together with businessman Angelo Meneghini, who's active in the dairy sector, and local bank Banca Monte di Parma.
Parma is third-to-last in the Serie A, and plays AC Milan on Sunday.
