Ronan Keating 羅南 will be staging a concert on March 11 at the National Taiwan University Sportscenter 台大綜合體育館 (No.1 Roosevelt Rd. Sec.4, Taipei 台北市羅斯福路四段一號 Tel: (02)8369-5656). The 29-year-old from British pop group “Boyzone” has won a many hearts of female fans all across the world - in Asia especially - clocking up a total of 14 top 10 singles, as well as three No.1 albums in addition to his previous success with Boyzone. His fourth studio album Bring You Home was released on June 5, 2006 and entered the UK album charts at number three. It reached the top ten in several other territories across the world. Aside from his singing career, Ronan Keating has also earned a reputation as a successful host for various music awards shows. Expect to hear the ever-familiar chart-topping ballads such as “When You Say Nothing at All,” “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” “We’ve Got Tonight,” “Words,” and more. Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band 龐秋‧聖騎士 will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the National Concert Hall 國家音樂廳 (No. 21-1 Chungshan South Rd., Taipei 台北市中山南路21-1號; Tel: 02-3393-9999) on March 13. Poncho Sanchez is a Latin jazz artist, salsa singer, band leader and conguero (conga player). In 2000, Sanchez and his ensemble won the Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album for their work on the Concord Picante album Latin Soul. A jazz great in himself, Sanchez has performed with artists Cal Tjader, Mongo Santamaria, and Tower of Power, among others. Originally a guitarist, he discovered his talent for singing during an audition for an R&B band that rehearsed across the street from where he lived, becoming the group's lead vocalist. Sanchez would later go on to teach himself the flute, drums, and timbales before finally deciding to pursue conga-playing in high school. NSO Forever Tales - Classic Zoo NSO 永遠的童話 - 經典動物園 will be performed by the National Symphony Orchestra March 31 - April 1 at the National Concert Hall 國家音樂廳(No.21-1 Zhongshan S. Rd., Taipei 台北市中山南路21-1號 Tel: (02)3393-9888). Following The Pied Piper and Secrets in the Woods in 2004 and 2005, the NSO will stage another concert in its Forever Tales series. This time, the theme is animals, and the pieces to be performed are Peter and the Wolf 《彼得與狼》and Le Carnaval des Animaux 《動物狂歡節》. The former is a classic tale loved by children worldwide. The latter is an orchestral suite of fourteen movements that depicts a different animal in each movement. This performance marks the third collaboration between If Kids Theatre 如果兒童劇團 and the NSO. The combination of music and drama, with elements of the theater and lively acting, is guaranteed to grape kids’ attention through out the whole program.
