Harrison's ban upheld after missing hearing

Former WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison remains suspended after failing to appear at a hearing to explain why he pulled out of a title defense last month.
The Scottish fighter had been scheduled to appear before the British Boxing Board of Control on Wednesday but didn't show up.
"Accordingly his license will remain suspended and he will not be permitted to take part in any boxing contest within the board's jurisdiction until such time as the stewards permit him to do so, if appropriate, following an appearance before them," BBBC general secretary Simon Block said.
Harrison pulled out of the Dec. 9 defense against Nicky Cook three days before the fight after failing to make the 126-pound (57-kilogram) weight limit. That came five weeks after he was released from a Spanish jail on assault charges.
Harrison, who has a history of alcohol abuse and violent behavior, held the WBO title for four years.
