England under-21 manager Taylor quits

Peter Taylor resigned as England under-21 manager on Thursday to concentrate on coaching Crystal Palace.
The 54-year-old Taylor had been with the England under-21 team since July 2004, his second spell in charge after 23 games from August 1996 through June 1999.
"I can't do it anymore and devote my time to helping the team ahead of June's European under-21 championship in Holland," the former Hull manager told the BBC. "Anybody coming in would have to commit a lot to the job. I'm sad but I've had a great time with England."
The Football Association was expected to name his successor later Thursday.
Taylor won 13 games, drew four and lost five over his second stint as under-21 manager, including qualifying the team for the European championship after defeating Germany in a two-leg playoff in October.
Crystal Palace is 14th in the 24-team League Championship with 38 points.
