Injured Czech ski jumper out of coma

Czech ski jumper Jan Mazoch, who sustained head injuries in a crash last weekend, was breathing on his own Thursday after being brought out of a coma.
Mazoch, 21, is no longer on a life-support machine but remains in "very serious" condition, hospital spokeswoman Anna Niedzwiedzka said.
Tests Wednesday showed the swelling of his brain subsided, allowing doctors to bring him out of the medically induced coma, Niedzwiedzka said.
Mazoch crashed Saturday in high winds and appeared to bounce off the hill during his second jump at a World Cup meet in Zakopane. He was taken to the local hospital and then transferred to another hospital in Krakow, where he was induced into a coma to control the swelling on his brain.
