Colin Davis Opens Lincoln Center Season

Lincoln Center will celebrate the 80th birthday of Sir Colin Davis when he conducts three concerts with the London Symphony Orchestra in October to open the 42nd season of Great Performers.
Davis turns 80 on Sept. 25, and his series opens Oct. 17 with an all-Mozart program featuring Imogen Cooper in Piano Concerto No. 27 and the Requiem, Lincoln Center announced Wednesday.
Two days later, Davis conducts an all-Beethoven program with Paul Lewis in Piano Concerto No. 4 and the Third Symphony. Davis concludes Oct. 21 with tenor Ian Bostridge, soprano Sally Matthews, baritone Dietrich Henschel and the London Symphony Chorus in Haydn's "Die Schoepfung (The Creation)."
The season also features the New York premiere of Stefano Landi's 1632 opera "Sant'Alessio" on Oct. 29 and 30 with William Christie conducting Les Arts Florissants in a semistaged concert version.
Martha Argerich plays Schumann's Concerto in A minor on Nov. 15 with conductor Charles Dutoit and the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra.
