BRUSSELS (AP) — Belgian authorities have detained one person after a small amount of explosives was found on a busy railway track near Brussels.
An official at the Brussels prosecution office, who requested anonymity to speak to the press, said that the suspect detained Thursday did "not have a profile corresponding to a terrorist." He also stressed the amount of explosives, which he did not identify, were small. He said no further information would be provided before Friday.
Rail traffic was halted after the discovery of the bag, which could not have been put there more than 24 hours before.
Belgium still has reinforced security around the capital following the March 22, 2016, bombings at the Brussels international airport and subway which killed 32 people.
