TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (國父紀念館) has just launched a new exhibition to commemorate the building’s architect Wang Dahong (王大閎), which will continue until June. 9.

Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall recently celebrated its 47th anniversary with a new painting created by former proteges of 12 renowned artists, including Zhang Daqian (張大千), Huang Jun-bi (黃君璧), and George Yeh (葉公超). Wang Dahong designed S.Y.S. Memorial Hall 47 years ago.

Curator Liang Yuan-Pei (梁永斐) said Wang was an excellent architect and graduated from Cambridge and Harvard universities. Wang was also a classmate of the recently departed architect, I.M. Pei (貝聿銘), at Harvard.

Wang passed away a year ago, which is why the memorial exhibition was organized, to display his sketches, models, letters and other valuable historical items, said Liang.

The exhibition not only showcases records of the design process for S.Y.S. Memorial Hall, but also works for the project titled,” A Monument to the Moon Conquest.” Furthermore, there will be periodic workshops and guided tours.

Wang Dahong’s exhibition takes place on the second floor and will be open to the public until June 9, with free entry. For more information, please visit the official website or Facebook page.
