TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The body of a 22 year old man was found in the ocean off the coast of Wanli District (萬里) of New Taipei City early Tuesday morning by Coast Guard patrols.
The young man, surnamed Wu (吳), was reported missing Monday after he fell into the sea during a visit to nearby Chaojing Park (潮境公園).
After his initial disappearance on Monday, his wallet and some other personal possessions were later found on the shore of the park.
Two separate search operations were launched between New Taipei’s Wanli Coast Guard, and by authorities in nearby Keelung. The man’s body was discovered in the ocean around 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, with his identity confirmed by a member of the family around 8:00 a.m., reports UDN.
There was some confusion and speculation over the identity of victim, as another man, a 40 year old also surnamed Wu, who is sought in connection to the death of his two children, was last seen at Qianshuiwan (淺水灣) Seaside Park, also on New Taipei’s north coast.
Officers are currently still searching the areas around Taiwan’s northern coasts for the 40 year old Wu.
