TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- Michelin on Wednesday announced winners of its 2019 Bib Gourmand awards, two weeks before its highly anticipated Michelin Guide.
The latest Michelin Guide is slated to be released on April 10.
There are 34 winners in the new edition of the guide, among which 12 are new entrants. The winners, located in Taipei, were selected for their good quality and good value cooking, meaning the winning establishments whose price for a three-course meal cannot exceed NT$1,300 (US$42).
Four of the restaurants on the list specialize in Taiwanese cuisine, including Mother's Kitchen (女娘的店) in Shilin District, the 81-year-old Yi Hsing Pavilion (義興樓) in Wenshan District, Cheng Goose (阿城鵝肉) in Zhongshan, and Shin Yeh Shiao Ju (欣葉小廚) in Nangang.
This year's red book sees several newly-listed noodle shops, including A Kuo Noodles (阿國切仔麵) next to Ningxia market , Mai Mien Yen Tsai (賣麵炎仔) in Dadaocheng, and beef noodle shop Tien Hsia San Chueh (天下三絕) in Da'an District.
Other new entrants include the Sichuan-style restaurant Chili House (四川吳抄手) in Da'an, 60-plus-year-old Do It True (都一處) in Xinyi, Yunnan-style restaurant Jen Ho Yuan (人和園) in Zhongshan, Rong Rong Yuan (榮榮園) in Da'an, and Indian-style Saffron (番紅花) in Shilin.
