TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A tour bus carrying a group of Chinese tourists crashed in Hualien County on Thursday evening, with 10 passengers suffering moderate to critical injuries, according to the Taiwan Tourism Bureau.

The group of travelers from Sichuan Province in China, was traveling with the Sichuan Hebang International Travel Service. There were reportedly 33 passengers on the tour bus when it collided with a tree at 6:49 p.m. in Shoufeng Township (壽豐鄉).

The 10 passengers that were injured were sent to area hospitals for treatment, before being returned to their hotel rooms with only minor scrapes and bruises.

CNA reports that the bus veered off the road to avoid colliding with an oncoming vehicle and slammed into a tree.
