TAIPEI (Taiwan News) - According to the latest annual survey by Mercer Management Consulting, Taipei ranks as No.84 in the world for its quality of living, while Taichung comes in at No.101.
For the 10th year in a row, the company gave its accolade of the city with the best quality of living in the world to the Austrian capital Vienna, closely followed by Zurich in neighboring Switzerland.
The only non-European cities in the top-10 were Vancouver in Canada and Auckland in New Zealand, who shared the No.3 spot with the southern German city of Munich.
Looking at Asia, Singapore was named as the city with the best quality of living, ranking in the list at No.25, the Central News Agency reported.
Other Asian cities ahead of Taipei were Tokyo and Kobe in Japan at No.49, Hong Kong at No.71 and the South Korean capital Seoul at No.77.
Taipei and Taichung held precisely the same ranking as the previous year, CNA reported, while Shanghai followed at No.103, ahead of Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Of the 231 cities reviewed by Mercer, the Iraqi capital Baghdad came out as the worst, behind Bangui, capital of the Central African Republic, and the Yemeni capital Sanaa.
