TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Two films portraying travel in Taiwan’s Pingtung County have been nominated for the Best East Asian Film in the 2019 Japan World’s Tourism Film Festival (JWTFF), which is slated to take place on Mar. 13 – 14 in Osaka, Japan.

The two films are “Sea and Light”(Let’s meet in Pingtung) and “Pingtung, Where Amazing Happens.”

Pingtung County Magistrate Pan Men-an (潘孟安) said in a Facebook post on Sunday that the county government invited Internet sensation Sandy H. to shoot “Sea & Light” to promote the 2019 Taiwan Lantern Festival, which took place in the county and was organized by the county government.

“Pingtung, Where Amazing Happens,” shot last year to promote tourism in the county, presents a three-dimensional approach of exploring the county, Pan said. He thanked MARQ Films for visiting so many places, savoring local delicacies, and introducing Pingtung to people around world.

A total of 12 films were nominated for the award under the category, two of which represent Pingtung County. Tourism films produced by Taiwan’s Tourism Bureau and other cities and counties are also among those nominated for the award.
