Taiwan badminton star Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎) secured a spot in the women's single finals at the All England Open after beating her opponent in the semifinal on Saturday.
Tai beat Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 21-13, 10-21, 21-8 in three games that lasted 47 minutes.
The world No. 1 Taiwanese next faces the winner of the second semifinal between Chen Yufei (陳雨菲) of China and Nozomi Okuhara of Japan on Sunday.
Tai, who has won the women's singles at the tournament the past two years, is hoping to emulate China's Xie Xingfang (謝杏芳), who was the last women's player to win the All England Open three straight times, from 2005 to 2007.
The YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships 2019, held at the Arena Birmingham from March 6-16, carries a purse of US$1 million.
The tournament's title is one of the most coveted on the global badminton circuit, second only to the BWF World Championships.
