TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- British crooner Ed Sheeran, who had canceled his previously scheduled concert in Taiwan in 2017 due to a bicycle accident, is going to kick off his Asia tour concert in Taiwan.
AEG Presents Asia Thursday (Jan. 10) on Facebook announced that Sheeran's Divide World Tour 2019 Asia leg will kick off on April 4 at Taoyuan's Taoyuan City Stadium. The concert will be held on the first day of the Children's Day/Tomb Sweeping Day long weekend to ensure as many fans as possible can get a chance to watch the 27-year-old redhead perform live, after his previous show was canceled in 2017.
In order to prevent scalpers from speculating on ticket prices, the concert will be using a real-name system for the tickets, meaning that attendees will need to show a form of identification that matches the name on the ticket.
In 2017, Sheeran canceled his show in Taipei after sustaining a broken wrist and elbow due to a bicycling accident. In order to compensate Taiwanese fans for the abrupt cancellation last time, Sheeran has scheduled the first leg of his Asia tour in Taiwan.
Two years after its release, Sheeran's smash hit "Shape of You" has just reached the four billion-view mark on YouTube, making it the second-most viewed video on Planet Earth, trailing only the Latin megahit "Despacito."
