Yeet! List says ban 'optics,' 'thought leader,' 'collusion'

DETROIT (AP) — As hard as it is to wrap your head around, another year is in the books. That means it's time to grapple with the optics of eschewing words and phrases deemed no longer worthy of our cultural wheelhouse.

The thought leaders at northern Michigan's Lake Superior State University on Monday released their 44th annual List of Words Banished from the Queen's English for Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness.

The 18 include "wrap my head around," ''in the books," ''grapple," ''optics," ''eschew," ''wheelhouse" and "thought leader." Others are "collusion," ''platform," and "OTUS family of acronyms," such as POTUS for the President of the United States.

Rounding out the tongue-in-cheek list culled from public submissions is "ghosting," ''yeet," ''litigate," ''crusty," ''legally drunk," ''importantly," ''accoutrements" and "most important election of our time."
