TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — An exhibition celebrating the 30th anniversary of Taiwan’s professional baseball league kicked off Saturday in Taipei, highlighting various memorable moments in the history of baseball in the country.
President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), having pledged earlier this year that she will welcome the champion team of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) at the Presidential Office every year to publicly commend their performances, attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition on Friday to once again show her support for the sport.

Baseball is not only the most popular sport in Taiwan, it also serves as a symbol of unity for the nation, described President Tsai. She mentioned that even though CBPL President John Wu (吳志揚) and herself belong to different political parties, they are united when it comes to Taiwan’s baseball.
Never give up until the end of the game. This is the spirit that baseball has taught us, added the president. She invited the public to visit the exhibition and get to know the sport and its development in Taiwan.
The exhibition looks back at the 30 years of history of CPBL, which has filled countless Taiwanese households with passion, memory, joy, and tears over the years. Visitors entering the exhibition hall will first encounter a setting of the living room of an ordinary household in Taiwan. The setting is said to be reminiscent of the scene where families and friends gather together in the living room every evening during the CPBL season and cheer for their favorite teams and players.
There is also a circular projection theater broadcasting all the classic clips of CPBL baseball games since the inception of the professional league three decades ago.
In addition to the interactive devices, exhibits ranging from baseball t-shirts and balls with signatures, competition trophies, and rare collections are also displayed at the exhibition, telling the various glorious stories of baseball in the nation.
The exhibition is located at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park and will last through March 31, 2019.
