TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The New Year’s Day celebrations at Chishingtan Beach in Hualien will go ahead without a helicopter flyby due to expected poor weather, reported CNA.

The other scheduled activities including a flag raising ceremony, beach clean-up, and a host of other festivities will continue as planned.

The National Airborne Service Corps said the expected poor weather left them with no choice but to cancel the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter show.

The Hualien County Government said that festivities will commence at 6:00 a.m. on Jan. 1, at the Chishingtan Scenic Area park, where the public will be able to celebrate the New Year with a flyby by the Air Force, indigenous folk music, a tai chi performance, and more.
