TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- On Dec. 21, a user of the social media platform Reddit posted a photo of Tainan's venerable old Chin Men Theater (全美戲院) festooned with old-fashioned, hand-painted movie posters.

The 20-square-meter posters are carefully painted by 66-year-old artist Yan Jhen-fa (顏振發), who has been painting film posters for 48 years now. Yan is the last movie poster artist still actively painting in Taiwan, and the Chin Men Theater is the last cinema displaying such posters in the country.

Partially blind, Yan vows to continue painting until he can no longer see, according to the BBC. Four years ago, when his vision started to fade, he took on an apprentice who he hopes can continue the tradition in his place.
