HBO Asia to film original sci-fi series in Taiwan

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – HBO Asia recently announced a new sci-fi original series that will be shot completely in Taiwan.

The show will be entitled “Dream Raiders” (獵夢特工), and the cast will feature Taiwanese starts Vivian Hsu (徐若瑄), David Wang (王耀慶), and Jason Wang (王識賢). Principal photography for the series has already begun, according to reports.

Currently, details on the story and setting for Dream Raiders are scant, but the series, set in a “futuristic realm” will have eight one-hour long episodes. It will be released in 2019, and available on HBO GO, HBO and HBO On Demand.

Hong Kong director and producer, Cheang Pou-Soi (鄭保瑞), known for his gritty actions movies and the recent Monkey King (大鬧天宮) films, will fill the role of Executive Producer for the project.

The CEO of HBO Asia, Jonathan Spink, was quoted by Deadline on the project.

“Following the success of our first Taiwanese drama series, The Teenage Psychic, we are looking forward to once again be working with the talented storytellers in Taiwan on a genre that we have never done before.”

Noting that science-fiction is a genre that allows for limitless creativity, Spink said he looks forward to sharing the “unlimited possibilities” of “dream-raiding” with audiences in the region.
