TAIPEI (Taiwan News) - Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport opened a new food court at its Terminal 2 Saturday after two months of preparation by I-Mei Gourmet Supplier Corporation (義美吉盛).
“Bees’ Journey” (蜂賦食趣) is located on the 4th floor of the modern terminal’s departure hall and includes restaurants catering to a variety of appetites, offering beef noodles, northern noodles at “Chu Ji,” coffee at the Japanese store “Kohiya” and hamburgers at Burger King.
To mark Saturday’s opening, the food court also handed out cabbages, honey cakes and honey lemon juice.
I-Mei Gourmet Supplier said it picked the name “Bees’ Journey” because bees provide humanity with a rich supply of foods, while airport officials hoped the food court would not only offer travelers but also attract residents of the surrounding area.
The company was also planning new projects for the B2 and 5th floor at Terminal 2, with the project including a panoramic restaurant and a restaurant with Michelin stars.
Among the guests at the opening ceremony Saturday were I-Mei Gourmet Supplier Chairman Luis Ko (高志明), I-Mei Foods Chairman Henry Kao (高志尚) and Taoyuan International Airport Corporation deputy CEO Hung Yu-fen (洪玉芬).
